Title: AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-13-91, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCLUDE IN THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM "COMPULSORY-SCHOOL-AGE CHILD" THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN PUBLIC SCHOOL KINDERGARTEN AND THOSE STUDENTS WHO TURN SEVENTEEN YEARS OF AGE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR; TO PROVIDE THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS MAY NOT WITHHOLD KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS FROM PROMOTION TO THE FIRST GRADE BASED UPON AN EXCESS NUMBER OF ABSENCES; AND TO REVISE THE DATE BY WHICH CERTIFICATES OF ENROLLMENT MUST BE RETURNED BY PARENTS TO SCHOOL ATTENDANCE OFFICERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
