Senate Resolution 67

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL (PCS) BOBCATS BASEBALL TEAM AND SEVEN-YEAR COACH JARRETT HOFFPAUIR FOR WINNING THE 2025 MAIS CLASS 6A BASEBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, THEIR FIRST-EVER STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Presbyterian Christian School (PCS) Bobcats Baseball Team won their first-ever MAIS Class 6A Baseball State Championship on May 17, 2025, defeating Hartfield Academy 9-4 in the decisive Game 3 at Mississippi College's Frierson Field; and

WHEREAS, junior pitcher and Most Valuable Player (MVP) Bankston Walters led the Bobcats with a dominant complete game performance, while Reed Bridges sealed the win with a seventh inning grand slam; and

WHEREAS, after a hard-fought series, seven-year Coach Jarrett Hoffpauir noted it was "a long time coming" and praised the team's dedication; and

WHEREAS, the PCS Bobcats 2025-2026 Varsity Baseball Roster: Jet Henderson, Braylon Bass, Seth Hataway, Eian Hinton, Jiles Hoffpauir, Reece Tomlinson, Reed Bridges, Bankston Walters, Carter Miles, Aaron Alston, Bryce Bailey, Owen Didier, Sam Jones, Reese Herrod, Grayson Bishop, Brennon Thomas, Garner Russum, Will Winchester, Kade Welford, Tyner Flynt, Ramsey Herrod, Kane McCormick, Hatten Jussely, Jack Morrell, Briggs Slaughter, Luke Bailey, Graham Leathers, Gaines Russum and Noah Shemper; Head Coach Jarrett Hoffpauir; and Assistant Coaches Jay Alston and Scott Copeland; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Presbyterian Christian School (PCS) Bobcats Baseball Team and seven-year Coach Jarrett Hoffpauir for winning the 2025 MAIS Class 6A Baseball State Championship, their first-ever state baseball championship, and extend best wishes of the Senate for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Head Coach Jarrett Hoffpauir and the Presbyterian Christian School Head of School Jimmy Messer, forwarded to the Presbyterian Christian School Board of Directors, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
