AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEARS 2026 AND 2027 TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF THE OFFICE OF THE MISSISSIPPI BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE; THE MISSISSIPPI EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY; DEPARTMENT OF CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES; MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums herein appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure and allocated in a manner as determined by the Treasurer's Office, to defray the expenses of the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure for the period beginning upon passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2027........................... $     450,000.00.

This additional appropriation is for the purpose of defraying expenses related to office relocation, furnishing, and rent expenses.

SECTION 2.  In addition to all other sums appropriated to the agency, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Disaster Assistance Trust Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency for the purposes of defraying expenses related to the state obligations for disaster response and recovery, including the severe weather event beginning on January 24, 2026, for the period beginning upon passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2027

     This additional appropriation is for the purpose of defraying expenses of the agency related to the state obligations for disaster response and recovery authorized under the Disaster Assistance Trust Fund, including the severe weather event beginning on January 24, 2026.

SECTION 3.  In addition to all other sums herein appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money to the credit of the Capital Expense Fund and allocated in a manner as determined by the Treasurer's Office, to defray the expenses of the Department of Child Protection Services for the period beginning upon passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2027.... $  15,000,000.00.

     This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of defraying agency operational expenditures, including but not limited to expenditures due to the increased number of children in custody and in-home cases, out-of-state therapeutic placement expenditures, temporary placement expenditures, foster board and adoption subsidy expenditures.

SECTION 4.  In addition to all other sums herein appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Mississippi Department of Insurance and allocated in a manner as determined by the Treasurer's Office, to defray the expenses of the Mississippi Department of Insurance for the period beginning upon passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2027........................... $  12,000,000.00.

     This additional appropriation is for the purpose of providing nonadmitted policy fees to the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association in accordance with Section 83-34-4, Mississippi Code of 1972.

SECTION 5.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 6.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after passage.
