House Resolution 160

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MR. LIMEUL EUBANKS FOR BEING NAMED AS THE 2026 SOUTHEASTERN REGION SUPERVISION AND ADMINISTRATION ART EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Mr. Limeul Eubanks was named the 2026 Southeastern Region Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year at the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Awards Ceremony on March 6, 2026, a truly outstanding achievement; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Eubanks serves as the Director of PreK-12 Arts at the Mississippi Department of Education, where he oversees programs in dance, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts, world languages and the Mississippi Seal of Biliteracy; and

WHEREAS, as a visual artist and a seasoned art educator, Mr. Eubanks holds a master of fine arts degree with a focus on both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, a master of education degree in mild/moderate special education with specializations in art education and gifted and talented education, as well as a bachelor of arts degree with concentrations in ceramics, painting, dramatic arts, and communications, and he also has extensive training in various art mediums and forms and possesses valuable teaching experience in arts integration, ranging from Pre-K through college levels; and

WHEREAS, the Southeastern Region Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year award honors one outstanding NAEA member from each of the divisions within each of the four regions: Eastern Region, Pacific, Southeastern Region and Western Region, and this award recognizes exemplary service and achievement of regional significance within each division; and

WHEREAS, the Southeastern Region includes: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and the U.S. Virgin Islands; and

WHEREAS, art educator, Renna Moore-Edwards, stated, "From the first course I took with him, Limeul set a standard for what inspired teaching could look like. His approach to teaching future art educators went far beyond lesson plans. Limeul demonstrated how to nurture curiosity, confidence, and artistic voice in every student. Those lessons continue to influence the way I teach today. Years later, when I began working under his supervision as a class art teacher, I recognized how he challenged educators to think deeply about their practice while always making them feel valued and supported."; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor extraordinary Mississippi educators, especially those such as Mr. Eubanks, whose dedication and service brings honor to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Mr. Limeul Eubanks for being named the 2026 Southeastern Region Supervision and Administration Art Educator of the Year, and extend best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Limeul Eubanks and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
