House Resolution 127

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE KOSSUTH HIGH SCHOOL AGGIES CHEERLEADING TEAM AND CHEER COACH BAYLEE CONNELL ON WINNING THE UNIVERSAL CHEERLEADERS ASSOCIATION (UCA) NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL LARGE NON-TUMBLING GAME DAY DIVISION AND SMALL NON-TUMBLING INTERMEDIATE TRADITIONAL DIVISION CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, in early February 2026, with extraordinary performances that will surely go down in school history, the Kossuth High School Aggies Cheerleading Team reigned supreme when the cheerleaders were named the 2026 Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Champions in the Large Non-Tumbling Game Day Division and Small Non-Tumbling Intermediate Traditional Division at Walt Disney World Resort; and

WHEREAS, the Aggies' capturing the national title in not only one, but two, divisions at the UCA Championship solidified the Kossuth High cheerleading program's impeccable reputation in the State of Mississippi as one consistently delivering energy, excitement and school spirit to the crowds; and

WHEREAS, before their outstanding showing in Orlando, the Aggies Cheer Team unbelievably brought home a fifth consecutive state title in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Cheerleading Championship in the 3A Game Day Division in December; and

WHEREAS, with the Kossuth High School cheerleaders now having been the MHSAA 3A Game Day Division State Champions in six of the past seven years - 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, the squad's incomparable dominance clearly exemplifies the high standards the cheerleaders have constantly maintained, regardless of the individual members who have comprised the team, over the years; and

WHEREAS, the Aggies Cheerleading Squad has developed unparalleled teamwork and a spirit of trust in each other, making their precise movements appear effortless time after time as the athletically fit members of the team safely perform complex routines as a single, cohesive unit; and

WHEREAS, the exceptional accomplishments of the Kossuth High School cheerleaders would not be possible without the tireless intensive training, positive attitudes and enthusiasm of each of the following talented student-athletes who comprise the 2025-2026 cheerleading squad: Katie Avant, Marlee Beckham, Mary Ellis Johnson, Rochelle Dodds, Aniston Joyner, Libby Hammock, AnnaBelle Hatcher, Makenzie Hastings, Brookhlyn Hodum, Alana Lewis, Arabella Mares, Jacey Meeks, Kyleigh Mitchell, Marli Mills, Oakli Rickman, Carleigh Robinson, Katie Beth Shelton, Mana Smith, Relynn Spencer, Miley Taylor, Mallory Thrasher and Lacey Waggoner; and

WHEREAS, the cheerleaders have been superbly coached and inspired by Cheer Coach Baylee Connell and Choreographer Joseph Arkansas, who together have combined their considerable talents and years of experience to refine the squad's skills and precision in execution; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of outstanding student-athletes such as the Kossuth High School Aggies Cheerleaders, who have brought honor to their families, school, the City of Corinth and the entire State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Kossuth High School Aggies Cheerleading Team and Cheer Coach Baylee Connell on winning the 2026 Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championships in the Large Non-Tumbling Game Day Division and Small Non-Tumbling Intermediate Traditional Division and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Cheer Coach Baylee Connell on behalf of the Kossuth High School Aggies Cheerleading Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
