A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PORT GIBSON MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH TERENCE PARKER UPON COMPLETING AN UNDEFEATED SEASON AND WINNING THE 2025-2026 CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT TITLE.

WHEREAS, the Port Gibson Middle School Basketball Team concluded the 2025-2026 season with an extraordinary and historic accomplishment, finishing the season undefeated and capturing the championship tournament title in dominant fashion; and

WHEREAS, this undefeated championship season represents a proud milestone for Port Gibson Middle School and the surrounding community, reflecting the dedication of student-athletes, coaches, families and supporters who stood behind the team throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Terence Parker, the team demonstrated discipline, resilience and unity from the opening tip-off of the season to the final buzzer of the championship game, setting a standard of excellence both on and off the court; and

WHEREAS, Coach Parker's guidance has produced two championship titles within his three-year tenure, establishing a culture of preparation, accountability and competitive success within the program; and

WHEREAS, each contest throughout the season showcased the team's commitment to teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for the game of basketball, with every player embracing his role and contributing to the collective success of the team; and

WHEREAS, the undefeated record was earned through countless hours of practice, trust among teammates and a shared belief that sustained effort and unity produce lasting results; and

WHEREAS, beyond trophies and accolades, the 2025-2026 championship season reflects the character, perseverance and pride of the students of Port Gibson Middle School, who have represented their school and community with honor; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the achievements of student-athletes who bring distinction to their schools and communities through discipline, teamwork and excellence:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Port Gibson Middle School Basketball Team and Head Coach Terence Parker upon completing an undefeated 2025-2026 season and winning the championship tournament title, and extend best wishes for continued success in future seasons.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Terence Parker, to the administration of Port Gibson Middle School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
