AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HINDS COUNTY TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION PROJECTS, ROAD AND WATER ASSOCIATION IMPROVEMENTS, AND PUBLIC SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2026.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Supervisors of Hinds County, Mississippi, to assist in paying costs associated with the purposes described in Section 2 of this act for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026

SECTION 2. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be used by the board of supervisors as follows:
(a) Construction of the new Hinds County Detention Center.............................................. $7,074,214.00
(b) Improvements to the interior of the Hinds County Circuit Courthouse building......................... $2,000,000.00
(c) Repair and maintenance of the road Simwood Place in the City of Jackson................................... $460,000.00
(d) Repair of rural roads in the Towns of Bolton and Edwards and the Brownsville community.............. $10,000,000.00
(e) Repair and maintenance of Old Canton Road in the City of Jackson..................................... $1,000,000.00
(f) Improvements to the Reed Town Water Association in the Town of Utica..................................... $800,000.00
(g) Acquisition and installation of surveillance cameras throughout rural areas in the county.......... $100,000.00
(h) Installation of ten (10) emergency sirens throughout densely populated areas of the county ..... $460,000.00
TOTAL ............................................. $21,894,214.00 SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue the warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2025.
