House Bill 1801

AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 910, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 2022, TO REVISE THE AUTHORITY OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SUNFLOWER COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE SUNFLOWER COUNTY MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE COUNSELING SERVICE, INC., BY PROVIDING THAT THE BOARD MAY SUPPLEMENT ITS CONTRIBUTION BY PROVIDING AN ADDITIONAL AGGREGATE CONTRIBUTION THAT IS MADE TO THE COUNTY FROM MUNICIPALITIES, FAITH-BASED GROUPS OR PRIVATE CITIZENS TO ASSIST IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF DAILY OPERATIONS OF THE SUNFLOWER COUNTY TRANSITION CENTER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter, 910, Local and Private Laws of 2022, is amended as follows:

     Section 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Sunflower County, Mississippi, in its discretion, is authorized to contribute an amount not to exceed Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) annually, out of any available funds of the county, to the Sunflower County Ministerial Alliance Counseling Service, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation, that will administer the daily operations of the Sunflower County Transition Center, which is a county facility that primarily addresses the needs of the homeless population within the county.

     (2)  In addition to the contribution authorized under subsection (1) of this act, the board of supervisors, in its discretion, is authorized to contribute an additional sum annually to Sunflower County Ministerial Alliance Counseling Service, Inc., that is equal to no more than the yearly aggregate contributions that are made to the county by municipalities, faith-based groups and/or private citizens for the specific purpose of assisting in the administration of the daily operations of the Sunflower County Transition Center.

1, 2026.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
