AN ACT TO RENAME THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY EDUCATION BUILDING AND AUDITORIUM AS THE "HONORABLE MARY ANN STEVENS EDUCATION BUILDING AND AUDITORIUM"; TO RENAME THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AT THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY AS THE "COMMISSIONER GEORGE DALE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING" TO RENAME THE FIRE STATION AT THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY AS THE "REGGIE BELL FIRE STATION"; TO RENAME THE APPARATUS BUILDING AT THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY AS THE "BILL WARREN APPARATUS BUILDING"; TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, TO ERECT THE PROPER LETTERING OR SIGNAGE ON THE OUTDOOR FACADES OF EACH OF THE AFOREMENTIONED FACILITIES OF THE STATE FIRE ACADEMY DISPLAYING THE OFFICIAL NAMES OF THE FACILITIES IN HONOR OF THE RESPECTIVE INDIVIDUALS SO DESIGNATED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The education building and auditorium located on the premises of the State Fire Academy, which is established under authority of Section 45-11-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, and located within Pearl, Rankin County, Mississippi, under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall be renamed the "Honorable Mary Ann Stevens Education Building and Auditorium."
(2) The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque to be placed in a prominent place within the "Honorable Mary Ann Stevens Education Building and Auditorium" of the State Fire Academy that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the Honorable Mary Ann Stevens. The Department of Finance and Administration, in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on the outdoor facade of the education building displaying the official name of the education building and auditorium as the "Honorable Mary Ann Stevens Education Building and Auditorium." The Department of Finance and Administration may expend all funds necessary to accomplish this act from funds appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.
SECTION 2. (1) The administration building located on the premises of the State Fire Academy, which is established under authority of Section 45-11-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, and located within Pearl, Rankin County, Mississippi, under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall be renamed the "Commissioner George Dale Administration Building."
(2) The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque to be placed in a prominent place within the "Commissioner George Dale Administration Building" of the State Fire Academy that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the former Mississippi Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal, George Dale. The Department of Finance and Administration, in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on the outdoor facade of the education building displaying the official name of the education building and auditorium as the "Commissioner George Dale Administration Building." The Department of Finance and Administration may expend all funds necessary to accomplish this act from funds appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.
SECTION 3. (1) The fire station located on the premises of the State Fire Academy, which is established under authority of Section 45-11-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, and located within Pearl, Rankin County, Mississippi, under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall be renamed the "Reggie Bell Fire Station."
(2) The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque to be placed in a prominent place within the "Reggie Bell Fire Station" of the State Fire Academy that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the former executive director of the State Fire Academy, Reggie Bell. The Department of Finance and Administration, in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on the outdoor facade of the education building displaying the official name of the education building and auditorium as the "Reggie Bell Fire Station." The Department of Finance and Administration may expend all funds necessary to accomplish this act from funds appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.
SECTION 4. (1) The apparatus building located on the premises of the State Fire Academy, which is established under authority of Section 45-11-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, and located within Pearl, Rankin County, Mississippi, under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall be renamed the "Bill Warren Apparatus Building."
(2) The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque to be placed in a prominent place within the "Bill Warren Apparatus Building" of the State Fire Academy that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the former executive director of the State Fire Academy, Bill Warren. The Department of Finance and Administration, in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Insurance, shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on the outdoor facade of the education building displaying the official name of the education building and auditorium as the "Bill Warren Apparatus Building." The Department of Finance and Administration may expend all funds necessary to accomplish this act from funds appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2025.
