Senate Resolution 83

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING CHARLIE FRUGÉ OF OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI, FOR WINNING THE STUDENT NOMINATION TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION BASED ON THE COMPETITIVE PROCESS AND COMMENDING HIS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS.

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi State Board of Education selected Charlie Frugé through a competitive process as the student representative to the Board to serve a two-year term from June 2022 to April 2024; and

     WHEREAS, Charlie exemplified educational excellence by maintaining a 4.32 weighted grade point average at Oxford High School in the Oxford School District; and

     WHEREAS, he helped advance educational policy as founder and president of Frugé Tutoring, which since Summer 2020 has provided more than 300 hours of free tutoring in Algebra, Geometry, English, Biology, Chemistry and ACT Prep; and

     WHEREAS, Charlie became active in several student, community, state and national organizations, including as Class President during his freshman, sophomore and junior years; Student Body President his senior year; Vice President of Oxford High School Students for Alzheimer's Awareness; Co-president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Co-founder and Co-president of History Bowl; Student Section Leader of OZONE; Captain of OHS Tennis; member of OHS Cross Country team; Mississippi Governor's School Class Chairman; delegate in American Legion Boys State; Governor in Boys State; Eagle Scout; and as a U.S. Senate Page; and

     WHEREAS, Charlie earned numerous honors and awards, including National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist; U.S. Senate Page School English Award; OHS AP Government Award; DECA State Finance Champion; OHS Honors Chemistry Award; OHS Pre-AP History Award; induction into the Order of the Arrow, a National Honor Society of Boy Scouts; and

     WHEREAS, he led his peers statewide as the co-leader of the State Superintendent of Education Student Advisory Council; and

     WHEREAS, Charlie has brought his experiences as a student in the classroom and commitment to his role on the Mississippi State Board of Education to make sure Mississippi's public schools are always improving and children are receiving the education they deserve; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we commend a young Mississippi citizen who has brought honor to his school and community and represents the future of the State of Mississippi:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Charlie Frugé of Oxford, Mississippi, for winning the student nomination to the State Board of Education based on the competitive process and commend his academic achievements and extend the best wishes of the Mississippi Senate to Charlie and his family for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Charlie Frugé, forwarded to the Oxford School Board and the State Board of Education and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
