A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING SANDRA PETERSON, FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE HARRISON COUNTY CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Sandra Peterson, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Harrison County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Sandra, a Mathematics Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past twenty-six years; and

     WHEREAS, she received her Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Secondary Mathematics Education and her Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Mathematics from Mississippi State University; and

     WHEREAS, Sandra worked as a Mathematics Teacher at West Point High School prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize an outstanding teacher, who has dedicated her career to teaching individuals of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Sandra Peterson for being selected as the "Instructor of the Year" at the Harrison County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Sandra Peterson, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
