Senate Resolution 28

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING EMMA WATTS OF ST. STEPHENS, ALABAMA, AS "MISS DIXIE NATIONAL 2024" ON THE OCCASION OF THE DIXIE NATIONAL LIVESTOCK AND RODEO SHOW.

     WHEREAS, Emma Watts has been crowned 2024 Miss Dixie National; and

     WHEREAS, Emma is the 19-year-old daughter of Johnny and Kim Watts from St. Stephens, Alabama; and

     WHEREAS, she is an honors graduate of Leroy High School and is currently attending Pearl River Community College, in Poplarville Mississippi.  She is currently a member of the Award-Winning Rodeo Team.  Emma will be continuing her education working toward a degree in business, as well as, agriculture communication; and

     WHEREAS, The Dixie National Rodeo is January 9-17 at the Mississippi Coliseum.  The Dixie National Rodeo and Livestock Show began in 1965.  It is one of the largest professional rodeos east of the Mississippi River.  The Dixie National Rodeo is produced by Rorey Lemmel of Harper and Morgan Rodeo Company; and

     WHEREAS, Miss Dixie National is required to attend all performances of the Dixie National Rodeo, participate in the annual parade, and promote the rodeo by attending hospitals, nursing homes, and schools.  Emma is an upstanding young Christian woman who strives to be an ambassador and role model:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Emma Watts of St. Stephens, Alabama, as "Miss Dixie National 2024" on the occasion of the Dixie National Livestock and Rodeo Show and extend to her and her family our best wishes for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Emma Watts and her family, forwarded to the Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
