AN ACT TO DESIGNATE THE SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 8 THAT EXTENDS THROUGH GRENADA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE "WILLIAM WINTER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY" IN MEMORY OF THE LATE FORMER GOVERNOR WILLIAM FORREST WINTER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The section of Mississippi Highway 8 that starts at Interstate 55 in Grenada County, Mississippi, and extends east for one (1) mile through Grenada County, Mississippi, is designated and shall be known as the "William Winter Memorial Highway" in memory of the late former Mississippi Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Treasurer and Representative in the Mississippi House of Representatives, William Forrest Winter of Grenada, Mississippi.

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
