AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF GENERAL FUNDS TO MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION SERVICE TO DEFRAY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CERTAIN YOUTH PREPAREDNESS EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2025.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to Mississippi State University Extension Service to defray expenses associated with the implementation of certain youth preparedness education programs for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and

ending June 30, 2025............................... $ 100,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  The funds appropriated in Section 1 of this act shall be used for funding instructor certification and training and delivery of the following programs in all eighty-two (82) counties of Mississippi:

          (a)  The Mississippi Youth Preparedness Initiative (ages 12-19);

          (b)  Ready in the Middle (ages 9-19);

          (c)  Be Red Cross Ready (ages 16-19);

          (d)  The Pillowcase Project (ages 8-11);

          (e)  The PREP Rally (ages 5-11); and

          (f)  Prepare with Pedro (ages 4-7).

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
