AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-147-7, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE THE BOARD MEMBERSHIP OF THE MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY RESEARCH AUTHORITY; TO MAKE CERTAIN TECHNICAL CHANGES THERETO; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 37-147-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     37-147-7.  The authority shall be composed of the following members: * * *  five (5) an odd number of members appointed by the board from among the * * * chief research officers * * * of from the eight (8) institutions of higher learning, to serve at the will and pleasure of the board; the vice president of the board during the term of his office; the Director of the * * * Department of Economic and Community Development Mississippi Development Authority, or his designee; * * * the President of the Mississippi Resource Development Corporation, a nonprofit corporation organized and operating under the laws of the State of Mississippi; and the Commissioner of Higher Education as an ex officio, * * *non‑voting nonvoting member.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
