A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR ATTENDANCE CENTER BOYS FALCONS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 2023-2024 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Ingomar Attendance Center Boys Falcons Basketball Team topped off their 2023-2024 season by winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Falcons (28-9) were crowned champions upon capturing the MHSAA Class 2A state title when this talented group of young men defeated Bogue Chitto (30-2) with a victorious score of 48-46 on March 1, 2024, at the Mississippi Coliseum, which has given them the bragging rights of winning its seventh title overall and the first since 2020; and

     WHEREAS, the Falcons have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Jonathan Ashley, who was named the 2024 Boys Basketball Coach of Year by the Daily Journal, who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution which ultimately led them to the "Big House" to capture the Class 2A state title; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to the pivotal guidance that Coach Ashley provided, the team's assistance coaches, Gray Spencer and Eli Reed, as well as the team's strength and condition coach, Jeremy Dorrough, along with the team's managers, Whit Everitt, JJ Brock, Jaxx Harrelson, Graham McClellan, Garrett McClellan and Maggie Nance played key roles in the ultimate success of the Falcons; and

     WHEREAS, members of this remarkable championship team are as follows:  Cody Bost, Olen Falkner, Jack Denton, Kyland Morgan, Brayden Jumper, Nate Cable, JoJo Petty, Brayden Tillery, Cooper Ball, Damian Knox, Cayden Madonna, SJ Jackson, Thailan Cameron and Marshall Paepke; and

     WHEREAS, the Ingomar Attendance Center Boys Basketball Team have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and an exemplary degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players, their coaches, Ingomar Attendance Center, parents, supporters and to the entire Union County School District; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives, to recognize and commend excellence especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar Attendance Center Boys Falcons Basketball Team for its outstanding 2023-2024 season and for winning the MHSAA Class 2A State Championship as well as for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ingomar Attendance Center, Coach Jonathan Ashley and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
