A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE ST. ANDREWS EPISCOPAL SCHOOL "SAINTS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2024 MISSISSIPPI ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A BOYS SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the St. Andrews Episcopal School "Saints" Boys Soccer Team reigned supreme against St. Stanislaus at the 2024 Mississippi Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A Boys Soccer State Championship, the school's third state title in the last four years; and

     WHEREAS, during the Saints' playoff journey to their championship title they reigned victorious against the following teams: during the 1st Round, Nettleton, 13-0; 2nd Round, Strayhorn, 7-0; 3rd Round, Mooreville, 5-0; North State, Tupelo Christian, 7-0; and then finally, St. Stanislaus, 2-0; and

     WHEREAS, striving to win with unparalleled motivation and ardent determination, the Saints' mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they entered the field until they claimed their well-deserved championship title; and

     WHEREAS, the team's statistics were impressive during the season, but the key to the Saints' consistent success has been the tremendous dedication and year-round hard work by the team's talented and distinguished players; and

     WHEREAS, the St. Andrews Soccer Team is comprised of the following talented student-athletes:  Uwe Azomani, Callan Baldwin, Henry Buyan, Larrson Calhoun, Cullen Cox, Ben Croft, Rolen Fanning, Andrew Gordon, Kameron Howard, Jonathan Livingston, Drew McDonald, Ian McMillan, Jude Misenar, Anand Patel, Arnav Patel, Ravi Patel, Neehil Patel, Jack Purvis, Walker Van Meter, Bryant Weatherspoon and Aiden Wheatley; and

     WHEREAS, the Saints have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Perry Goldbury, who has broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Saints have developed a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, which reflects great credit upon the individual players and Coach Goldbury; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize exceptional Mississippi student-athletes, especially those such as the St. Andrews Episcopal School "Saints" Boys Soccer Team, whose hard work, dedication, and excellence on the field brings honor to St. Andrews Episcopal School and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the St. Andrews Episcopal School "Saints" Boys Soccer Team and Head Coach Perry Goldbury upon winning the 2024 MHSAA Class 1A Boys Soccer State Championship, and extend best wishes to the Saints for continued success in all their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the St. Andrews Episcopal School "Saints" Boys Soccer Team, Head Coach Perry Goldbury, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
