House Resolution 82

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BROOKE O'HAIR, HEAD COACH FOR THE MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LADY CHOCTAWS SOFTBALL TEAM, UPON THE MILESTONE OF CAPTURING HER 500TH CAREER SOFTBALL COACHING WIN.

WHEREAS, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, Coach Brooke O'Hair reached a significant milestone by capturing her 500th career game as a head coach with a decisive 6-2 Mississippi College Softball Team victory over West Florida; and

WHEREAS, Coach O'Hair, in the 18th season of her collegiate head coaching career, which has been spent entirely with Mississippi College, led the Lady Choctaws to a program record 42 wins last year and a number 10 team national ranking so far this season; and

WHEREAS, the milestone 500th victory adds another accolade to O'Hair's impressive coaching career, especially significant coming off of a season in which she was named the Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year in 2023; and

WHEREAS, considering herself "just a baby" when initially hired by Mississippi College, Coach O'Hair remains grateful for the opportunity given to her and even more so for the unchanging familial relationships she has established over the course of her career and the accomplishments they have achieved together; and

WHEREAS, Coach O'Hair has superbly coached and inspired the Lady Choctaws and broadened their knowledge of the game, while refining their skills in execution, while continuing to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, as evidenced in their ability to produce high caliber players and plays, and by the team's successful season; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of exceptional leaders as is incapsulated in the extraordinary coaching acumen of Coach Brooke O'Hair, who has brought honor to her family, to Mississippi College and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Brooke O'Hair, Head Coach for the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws Softball Team, upon the milestone of capturing her 500th career softball win, and extend best wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Brooke O'Hair, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
