A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND HONORING MR. CHARLES WILSON DISMUKES FOR HIS OUTSTANDING DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO THE FORESTRY INDUSTRY.
WHEREAS, Mr. Charles Wilson Dismukes dedicated his life's work to forestry, and his legacy of remarkable service and many contributions to the forestry industry is certainly unparalleled; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dismukes graduated from Kilmichael High School in 1957, before attending Mississippi State University (MSU), where he earned his bachelor of science degree in forest management, and became a lifelong Bulldog; and
WHEREAS, an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Dismukes began his lifelong career in land management at the age of 13 years old when he started his first tree farm, and following his graduation from Mississippi State University, he spent a short time in the forest industry, before joining his father at Vaiden Pulpwood Company, taking over the business in 1973, and the company is now owned and operated by his sons as Vaiden Timber Company; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dismukes was a founding member of the Montgomery County Forestry Association, and he was also a dedicated member of numerous organizations that are devoted to service and preservation of natural resources, including the Society of American Foresters, Mississippi Forestry Association and Lions Club of Kilmichael, and he worked diligently to promote education of private landowners in Mississippi, and contributed financially to youth who attended MSU for forestry; and
WHEREAS, because of his immense contributions and exceptional service to the forestry industry in Mississippi, in 2012, Mr. Dismukes was named Mississippi's Tree Farmer of the Year, and in 2018, he was awarded for outstanding service to Mississippi's County Forestry Association; and
WHEREAS, outside of his distinguished career in the forestry industry, Mr. Dismukes was devoted to his family, and he enjoyed spending time in the woods and his woodshop, traveling with his wife, trout fishing in Arkansas, and cheering on his beloved Mississippi State Bulldogs; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor extraordinary Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Dismukes, whose service and contributions to the forestry industry will always be remembered:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and honor Mr. Charles Wilson Dismukes for his outstanding dedication and service to the forestry industry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Charles Wilson Dismukes and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
