A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS EMMA WATTS UPON BEING CROWNED MISS DIXIE NATIONAL 2024.
WHEREAS, Miss Emma Watts, of St. Stephens, Alabama, has been crowned Miss Dixie National 2024, a truly outstanding achievement; and
WHEREAS, an honors graduate of Leroy High School, Miss Watts is currently attending Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi, where she is a member of the award-winning Rodeo Team, and she plans to pursue a degree in business and agriculture communication; and
WHEREAS, Miss Watts has been competing in rodeo since the age of nine and was the Alabama High School Rodeo Queen for three years, and she also competed at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Lincoln, Nebraska, placing fifth in the nation; and
WHEREAS, launched in 1965, the Dixie National Rodeo and Livestock Show is one of the largest professional rodeos east of the Mississippi River, and Miss Dixie National contestants were awarded points in the major categories of appearance, personality, horsemanship, and photogenic, as well as knowledge, presentation, and content and delivery; and
WHEREAS, as Miss Dixie National, Miss Watts is required to attend all performances of the Dixie National Rodeo, participate in the annual parade, and promote the rodeo by visiting hospitals, nursing homes and schools; and
WHEREAS, an upstanding Christian young woman who embodies kindness and hard work, Miss Watts strives to be an ambassador and role model throughout her one-year reign; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor extraordinary individuals, especially those such as Miss Watts, a young woman who exudes poise and grace, and serves as an asset and wonderful role model throughout the nation:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate Miss Emma Watts upon being crowned Miss Dixie National 2024, and express deepest wishes for her continued success during her reign, as well as in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Emma Watts and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
