AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO QUINTIN PURNELL OF GRENADA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Quintin Purnell of Grenada County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of grand larceny on April 22, 1992, in Montgomery County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve sixty (60) months of supervised probation under the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  Upon release from probation, he violated probation which resulted in revocation of the probation.  He was convicted for the crime of grand larceny on October 18, 1993, in Montgomery County, for which he was sentenced to serve three (3) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections and two (2) years release supervision.  

     He was released from supervision on February 28, 1996, due to expiration of sentence.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
