AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PORT GIBSON TO ASSIST IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WATER, SEWER AND POLICE DEPARTMENT PROJECTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2025.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the governing authorities of the City of Port Gibson, Mississippi, to assist in paying costs associated with the water, sewer and police department projects described in Section 2 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025. $ 16,900,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be used as follows:

(a)  Making sewage treatment plant repairs and upgrades at the city's lagoon..................................... $  350,000.00.

(b)  Replacing the existing water treatment plant with a new plant............................................ $5,300,000.00.

(c)  Providing for a new water well...... $2,500,000.00.

(d)  Replacing old water lines and sewer lines.........

................................................. $8,000,000.00.

(e)  Making physical repairs and security upgrades to the city water department main office...................... $  100,000.00.

(f)  Construction of a new police station for the city police department........................................ $  650,000.00.

TOTAL.......................................... $ 16,900,000.00.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
