AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MOOREVILLE-RICHMOND WATER ASSOCIATION IN LEE COUNTY TO ASSIST WITH THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING UPGRADES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WATER SYSTEMS OPERATED BY THE ASSOCIATION, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2025.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mooreville-Richmond Water Association in Lee County, Mississippi, to assist with the costs associated with making upgrades and improvements to the water systems operated by the association, as provided in Section 2 of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and ending June 30, 2025................... $ 5,000,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  (1)  The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be used for connecting to the Northeast Mississippi Regional Water Supply District surface water distribution line in Mooreville, and constructing booster stations and ground storage tanks and making water line upgrades to transport water from the surface water source throughout the three (3) water systems operated by the association.

     (2)  The amounts expended for the construction and upgrades described in subsection (1) of this section shall be as follows:

(a)  Booster stations.................. $ 2,000,000.00.

(b)  Ground storage tanks............... $ 2,000,000.00.

(c)  Water line work................... $ 1,000,000.00.

TOTAL........................................... $ 5,000,000.00.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
