A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE RECOGNITION OF THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE TO D'IBERVILLE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR MIKE MULLINS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, AND COMMENDING HIS OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, we join the citizens of D'Iberville, Mississippi, in recognizing the dedicated and professional service of Public Works Director Mike Mullins on the occasion of his retirement after 23 years of outstanding work; and

     WHEREAS, Mike was born on November 13, 1962, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Elmer and Betty Mullins, and moved to D'Iberville in 1969 with his parents and siblings, Elmer, George and Sarah; and

     WHEREAS, Mike attended D'Iberville schools and graduated in 1982, after which he attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for Landscape Management Technology; and

     WHEREAS, on October 1, 2000, Mike was named the first Parks and Recreation Director for the City of D'Iberville; and

     WHEREAS, Mike eventually took over Public Works and became a member of the American Public Works Association, where he was elected delegate of the APWA for 2011-2012, after which he was elected Vice President of the local branch of the APWA for 2013-2014, and then elected President for 2014-2015; and

     WHEREAS, Mike has served his community for 23 years in his various capacities and was chosen as the 2008 Citizen of the Year by the D'Iberville/St. Martin Chamber of Commerce; and

     WHEREAS, Mike has been an active participant in Mardi Gras, serving as a Grand Marshal for the North Bay Area Mardi Gras Association in 2018; and

     WHEREAS, Mike is a member of the Magnolia Lodge No. 120

F.& A.M. Biloxi, Mississippi, and was Master of the Lodge in 2012; and

     WHEREAS, Mike shares his life with his fiancé, Anne Mikish.  He has a daughter, Michelle, two granddaughters, Savanna and Bristol, and is dad and grandpa to Anne's children and grandchildren:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby extend the recognition of the Mississippi Senate to D'Iberville Public Works Director Mike Mullins on the occasion of his retirement, and commend his outstanding service to his community and his leadership and his love for the City of D'Iberville.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mike Mullins and his family, forwarded to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of D'Iberville and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
