Senate Resolution 55

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2022 JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY "LADY TIGERS" WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM FOR WINNING THE SWAC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP AND HEAD COACH GABRIELLE MOORE AS SWAC "COACH OF THE YEAR."

     WHEREAS, we join the students, faculty and alumni of Jackson State University in recognizing the 2022 "Lady Tigers" Women's Tennis Team for winning the SWAC Regular Season Championship, for winning the SWAC Tournament Championship and for a NCAA Tournament postseason appearance; and

     WHEREAS, the following members of the Championship Women's Tennis Team achieved individual honors:

     ·  Tyra-Nicole Whyte - First Team All-SWAC; SWAC All-Tournament Team;

     ·  Daniela Ramos - First Team All-SWAC;

     ·  Zeina Shabaan - First Team All-SWAC;

     ·  Paula Arcarons - SWAC All-Tournament MVP;

     ·  Robin Alston - SWAC All-Tournament Team; and

     WHEREAS, former Head Coach Gabrielle Moore was named 2022 SWAC "Coach of the Year"; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their team, their home community, their university and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2022 Jackson State University "Lady Tigers" Women's Tennis Team for winning the SWAC Regular Season Championship and Head Coach Gabrielle Moore as SWAC "Coach of the Year," and extend the best wishes of the Mississippi Senate to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Gabrielle Moore and JSU Acting President Dr. Elayne Hayes-Anthony for the team, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
