A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE FOR THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF MANTEE, WEBSTER COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO UNOFFICIALLY NAME THE TOWN AS "THE EPICENTER OF THE NATCHEZ TRACE" AND TO CONSTRUCT APPROPRIATE MARKERS FOR PURPOSES OF PROMOTION OF TOURISM.

     WHEREAS, the exit for the Town of Mantee from the Natchez Trace is located at Milepost 219 at approximately the middle of the Natchez Trace Parkway, which is 444 miles long; and

     WHEREAS, on October 10, 2022, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Mantee adopted a Resolution to name the Town as "The Epicenter of the Natchez Trace," and to erect appropriate signs and advertisement for the purposes of economic development and promotion of tourism and public use facilities in the community:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby express the support of the Mississippi Legislature for the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Mantee, Webster County, Mississippi, to unofficially name the town as "The Epicenter of the Natchez Trace" and to construct appropriate markers for purposes of promotion of tourism.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Mantee are encouraged to erect appropriate signs and advertisement for the purposes of economic development and promotion of tourism and public use facilities in the community with the approval of the Mississippi Division of Tourism, the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the appropriate federal agency and subject to the availability of appropriation from any public or private source.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution shall be transmitted to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Mantee, the Mississippi Division of Tourism and the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
