A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE INGOMAR ATTENDANCE CENTER LADY FALCONS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH TRENT ADAIR FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) 2023 CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, in a season of firsts, the Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team reached the ultimate milestone after a whirlwind championship bout at the "Big House" against their well-contended opponent and defending Class 1A champs, the Biggersville Lady Lions, whom they ousted in a sweeping 53-38 victory, to claim the 2023 Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the state tournament games, the Lady Falcons played with clear eyes, full hearts and unimaginable amounts of strength, and in each game, their mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they first hustled onto the court until the final buzzer, as they outlasted, outplayed and ultimately overpowered each of their formidable opponents in their quest to the insurmountable glory of the state championship title, climaxing their season with a 37-1 record, and clenching their second state title in the last three seasons, making it the program's 12th state title overall; and

     WHEREAS, to claim this illustrious victory, the Lady Falcons relied on their swift feet, accurate shooting and strategic defensive moves to stop the Lady Lions' offense and outmaneuver their defense, which ultimately allowed them to bring the coveted Gold Ball trophy back home; and

     WHEREAS, the 2022-2023 Lady Falcons Basketball Team roster is comprised of very talented and distinguished young women, including:  Issie Riddle, Mia Skelton, Daylen Grisham, Jayonna Anderson, Lindsay Dillard, Macie Phifer, Quinshala Atkinson, Bella Phifer, Allyson Beard, Cadie Jo Byrd, Kylie Jumper, Anna Lauren Glasson, T'Nya Jones, Marissa Bell, Kylie Brock and Kaylee Crawford; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons' knowledge of the game has been broadened and skills in execution refined through the superb coaching and inspiration of its coaching staff, including:  Head Coach, Trent Adair; Assistant Coaches, Katherine Downing and Laura Hogue; Strength and Conditioning Trainer, Jeremy Dorrough; and support staff, Audrey Maupin, Miley Roberts, Rachel Weeden, Maggie Nance, Carys Ball and Tyrani Jones; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Adair and the entire coaching staff have laid the foundation upon which a legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member can be built, as evidenced by the school's ability to produce high caliber players and plays and by the team's successful season; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons will carry the unforgettable memories they made along their way to championship status throughout their lives as they are constantly flooded with the feeling of greatness that accompanies being a champion; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team, an elite group of student-athletes, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ingomar Attendance Center Lady Falcons Basketball Team, Head Coach Trent Adair and the entire coaching and support staff for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association 2023 Class 1A State Championship, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors best wishes for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Trent Adair and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
