A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE EAST UNION ATTENDANCE CENTER URCHINS BASEBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2022 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 2A STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the East Union Attendance Center "Urchins" Baseball Team finished its remarkable season as Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Baseball Championship winners when they reigned supreme at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, playing with clear eyes, full hearts and unimaginable amounts of strength, the Urchins outlasted, outplayed and ultimately overpowered Stringer Attendance Center after a game that left fans on the edge of their seats until the last out was made; and

WHEREAS, throughout their record-setting season of play, the East Union Attendance Center Urchins, who finished their season with a 31-4 record, faced off with some of the state's best contenders on the red, dusty diamond, but persevered to sweep through the playoffs, winning 10 games in a row, and win the program's third overall state championship; and

WHEREAS, the Urchins started the 2022 campaign with a strong nonconference schedule and won 12 straight games, and for the sixth straight season, they were undefeated in Division 1-2A; and

WHEREAS, the East Union Attendance Center team statistics were impressive, and there were outstanding catches, double plays, pitches and homeruns by individual players, but the key to this team's success has been the constant team atmosphere and year-round hard work; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi student-athletes, especially those such as the East Union Attendance Center Urchins Baseball Team, whose excellence on the field brings honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the East Union Attendance Center Urchins Baseball Team upon winning the 2022 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Baseball Championship and extend best wishes to the team and coach for continued success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the East Union Attendance Center Head Coach and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
