House Resolution 62

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NEW ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL "LADY BULLDOGS" GOLF TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2022 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 4A STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the New Albany High School "Lady Bulldogs" Golf Team reigned victorious against Water Valley High School at the 2022 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Golf Championship, a truly outstanding accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, led by then-senior golfer, Caroline King, the Lady Bulldogs took the first day lead by a very narrow four strokes, and on Day 2, they held that lead, taking the title and bringing the coveted trophy to New Albany; and

WHEREAS, facing adversity after getting so close the previous year, and playing at their opponent's home course for the title, it made the championship win just a little more special; and

WHEREAS, striving throughout their season of play to score as many eagles as possible, play beautiful punch shots into the green, and superbly hone the timing of their shots to ensure victory, the Lady Bulldogs team is comprised of the following talented and skillful members: Caroline King, Zoie White, Katie Dallas, Lucy King and Laura Preston Ranager; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs have been splendidly coached and inspired by Head Coach Shane Sanderson and Assistant Coach Geoffrey King, who helped the players reach their fullest potential on and off the course, and played a vital and instructional role in the team's success; and

WHEREAS, Coach Sanderson and Coach King have broadened the Lady Bulldogs' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution, and they continue to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship, forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, as evidenced in their ability to produce high caliber golfers and by the team's championship winning season; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student-athletes such as the New Albany High School "Lady Bulldogs" Golf Team, whose championship victory and unparalleled sportsmanship have brought honor to New Albany High School, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the New Albany High School "Lady Bulldogs" Golf Team for winning the 2022 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Golf Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and the coaches for continued success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Shane Sanderson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
