House Resolution 57

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING DR. WILLIAM G. "BILL" JACKSON, M.D. FOR FORTY-SIX YEARS OF COMPASSIONATE MEDICAL SERVICE TO HIS PATIENTS AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE.

     WHEREAS, Dr. William G. "Bill" Jackson, M.D. is a beloved physician who has blessed five generations of Crossroads area families for the past 46 years with compassionate medical service; and

     WHEREAS, at the distinguished age of 73, Dr. Jackson has made the difficult decision to retire and will be celebrated by his family, friends, loved ones, past patients and the community on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in the fellowship hall at First United Methodist Church on Shiloh Road; and

     WHEREAS, the citizens of Corinth have a special relationship with the doctor as his medical records evidence that he has had  between 3,000 to 5,000 active patient charts for the city of Corinth; and

     WHEREAS, a 1967 Walnut High School graduate, he earned his higher educational degrees from Northeast Mississippi Community College, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine; and

     WHEREAS, soon after graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1975, he began his medical career in 1976, as a solo medical practitioner; and

     WHEREAS, in 1984, he became a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, where by his own statement, "I learned more from the students than I taught. It kept me on my toes."; and

     WHEREAS, William G. Jackson, M.D., was located in the Doctor's Plaza, and even though he began small, his reputation for excellent patient care caused his practice to quickly grow and resulted in several clinic moves; and

     WHEREAS, for most of his stellar medical career, he would see an average of 30-40 patients a day, and has always taken great pride in all levels of his career, including when he sold his medical practice and became an employee of the Magnolia Regional Health Center where he thoroughly enjoyed serving his patients before he retired from medicine; and

     WHEREAS, upon his retirement, he stated "I would have loved to keep working and keep going until I put in 50 years of service, but it just didn't work out that way."; and

     WHEREAS, he has been lovingly supported in all his career  endeavors by his college sweetheart and wife, Linda Gene, and his three daughters, Candace, Morgan and Lindsey, whom he considers his greatest accomplishments; and

     WHEREAS, sweetly called "Daddy Bill" by his grandchildren, since his retirement he has resumed his woodworking hobby, and returned to exercise; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the accomplishments of physicians who are family men and community men who place their patients' needs before their own:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Dr. William G. "Bill" Jackson, M.D. for 46 years of compassionate medical service to his patients and congratulate him for being honored for the impeccable care that he has given.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. William G. "Bill" Jackson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
