A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS KENNADEE RIGGS, UPON BEING CROWNED MISS RODEO AMERICA 2023, AND WELCOMING HER TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI DURING THE 2023 DIXIE NATIONAL RODEO.

     WHEREAS, on Sunday, December 4, 2022, Arizona's Kennadee Riggs was crowned Miss Rodeo America 2023 at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

     WHEREAS, having grown up under the breathtaking, western skies of Queen Creek, Arizona, Kennadee has carried on the legacy of her cowgirl bloodline as a member of the Cowgirls Historical Foundation while also working for the Arizona Farm Bureau and Cowboy Lifestyle Network; and

     WHEREAS, before being crowned as the prestigious Miss Rodeo America 2023, Kennadee, the 22-year-old daughter of Don and Shanda Riggs, who enjoys teaching horsemanship lessons, wonderfully represented the Grand Canyon State as Miss Rodeo Arizona 2022; and

     WHEREAS, a student at Arizona State University pursuing journalism, Kennadee served an 18-month church mission in Brazil, Arizona and Oklahoma, and enjoys volunteering as an instructor teaching English and Portuguese to Brazilians in weekly classes, and she is extremely passionate about "Kicking Up Kindness," which is reflected in The Kindness Journal Podcast, and she encourages everyone to perform daily acts of kindness; and

     WHEREAS, during her reign as the official representative of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Miss Riggs will travel in excess of 40,000 miles, making appearances at nearly 150 rodeo performances, as well as making appearances at schools, civic groups and other special events in order to educate the public and create awareness about the sport of rodeo, its sponsors and the western way of life; and

     WHEREAS, in fulfilling her obligations as Miss Rodeo America 2023, Kennadee makes her Mississippi appearance during the 2023 Dixie National Rodeo, held in Jackson, Mississippi, on February 10 through 18, 2022; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor fine individuals such as Miss Kennadee Riggs, a young woman who exudes poise, class and a tender heart, and serves as an asset and wonderful role model to young girls throughout the nation, with her attitude, determination and professionalism:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate Miss Kennadee Riggs, upon being crowned Miss Rodeo America 2023, welcome her to the State of Mississippi during the 2023 Dixie National Rodeo, and express deepest wishes for her continued success during her reign, as well as in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Kennadee Riggs, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
