AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO CORNELIUS CLAYTON OF MONROE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Cornelius Clayton of Monroe County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction on August 20, 2007, in DeSoto County for the crime of burglary for which he was sentenced to three (3) years to serve and four (4) years supervised probation, and as a result of his conviction for the crime of theft of a motor vehicle for which he was sentenced to five (5) years of supervised probation to run consecutively with the previous charges, within the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
He was released on parole on August 19, 2008, and discharged on June 5, 2012.
The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding citizen in a good and lawful manner.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
