AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE TOWN OF LEAKESVILLE TO ASSIST IN PAYING THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE TOWN, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the governing authorities of the Town of Leakesville, Mississippi, to assist in paying the costs associated with the infrastructure improvements described in Section 2 of this act, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024 $ 592,600.00.
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be expended by the governing authorities of the town as follows:
(a) Not more than One Hundred Forty-six Thousand Dollars ($146,000.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to River Street, Jane Drive, Hardy Avenue and West Capital Avenue;
(c) Not more than One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to Annex Road;
(d) Not more than Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to Ferguson Avenue;
(e) Not more than Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to the Piggly Wiggly service road;
(f) Not more than Sixty-seven Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($67,600.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to Jasper Avenue, Florida Avenue and 4th Street;
(g) Not more than Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($7,500.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with repairs, upgrades and improvements to Westerfield Avenue;
(i) Not more than Thirty-four Thousand Dollars ($34,000.00) shall be used to assist in paying the costs associated with the purchase of equipment and machinery for road repair and maintenance; and
(j) Not more than Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) shall be used to assist in the paying costs associated with repairs, upgrades, improvements and additions to the Old Chickasawhay Bridge.
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
