House Bill 721

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE LEGISLATURE TO APPROPRIATE MONEY EACH YEAR TO THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE JOBS FOR MISSISSIPPI GRADUATES, INC., PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The Legislature shall appropriate money each year to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security for the purpose of funding the Jobs for Mississippi Graduates, Inc. (JMG) program, which is the premier college and career readiness entity for youth across the state.  The Legislature finds that the JMG program ensures high school graduates are workforce ready via employability skills in an effort to reduce and eventually eliminate the skills gap in our state.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
