COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO

     Amend by striking all after the enacting clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

     SECTION 1.  Section 25-34-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     25-34-9.  (1)  A notarial officer may charge a fee in an amount not to exceed Five Dollars ($5.00) for services rendered in-person unless otherwise prohibited by law or by rules promulgated by the Secretary of State.

(2)  A notarial officer may charge a fee in an amount not to exceed Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) for services rendered electronically unless otherwise prohibited by law or by rules promulgated by the Secretary of State.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.

     Further, amend by striking the title in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

     AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-34-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE THE MAXIMUM FEE PERMITTED TO BE CHARGED FOR NOTARIAL SERVICES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
