A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING DR. AILEAN STINGLEY OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE RECIPIENT OF USA TODAY'S WOMEN OF THE YEAR AWARD AS THE MISSISSIPPI HONOREE AND COMMEND HER CIVIC AND CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS.
WHEREAS, we join the public health community in recognizing Dr. Ailean Stingley as the USA Today's Women of the Year - Mississippi Honoree, a recognition received by women from across the country who have made a significant impact. The annual program is a continuation of Women of the Century, a 2020 project that commemorated the 100th Anniversary of women gaining the right to vote; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ailean Stingley has impacted her local, state and national community as a public health professional and administrator for more than 30 years, assisting in improving the lives of many Mississippians who have not had access to adequate health or dental care; and
WHEREAS, she is the first female to have been elected from the deep south to serve as a National Trustee of the Church of God In Christ, Inc., and as a General Officer assessing budgetary needs for all departments in operation throughout the national church; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ailean Stingley has advocated for better health and dental care for inmates. She encourages schoolchildren through public engagement and motivational messages and coordinates health fairs for women across the country, empowering them with information with the goal of improving their health; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ailean Stingley graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctorate of Oral Medicine. She received her Master's Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration and Policy from The University of Southern Mississippi, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio, Television and Film from The University of Southern Mississippi. She also completed an Executive Healthcare Management Fellowship through the National Association of Community Health Centers located in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ailean Stingley personifies all the positive attributes of faith, dedication, determination and love for her church family, profession and community. Serving in the Mississippi Southern First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, she is a member of the Liberal Trinity Church of God In Christ; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ailean Stingley is married to Tom Stingley, Esq., and is the proud mother of one son, Ian Stingley; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we pay tribute to a leading Mississippi health care professional who has brought honor to her profession, her community and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Dr. Ailean Stingley of Jackson, Mississippi, as the recipient of USA Today's Women of the Year Award as the Mississippi Honoree and commend her civic and charitable contributions and extend to Dr. Stingley and her family our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Stingley and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
