A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION SUSPENDING THE DEADLINES FOR THE PURPOSE OF REQUESTING THE DRAFTING, INTRODUCTION, CONSIDERATION AND PASSAGE OF A BILL ENTITLED "AN ACT TO CODIFY ARTICLE 3, SECTION 17A, OF THE MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION IN THE MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972; TO ENACT THE "MISSISSIPPI STOP EMINENT DOMAIN ABUSE ACT"; TO PROVIDE THAT NO PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY THE EXERCISE OF THE POWER OF EMINENT DOMAIN UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI SHALL, FOR A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS AFTER ITS ACQUISITION, BE TRANSFERRED OR ANY INTEREST THEREIN TRANSFERRED TO ANY PERSON, NONGOVERNMENTAL ENTITY, PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP, CORPORATION, OR OTHER BUSINESS ENTITY; TO PROVIDE CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES."
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Joint Rules of the Senate and the House are hereby suspended for the purpose of requesting the drafting, introduction, consideration and passage, regardless of any deadlines imposed by said rules, of a bill entitled "AN ACT TO CODIFY ARTICLE 3, SECTION 17A, OF THE MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION IN THE MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972; TO ENACT THE "MISSISSIPPI STOP EMINENT DOMAIN ABUSE ACT"; TO PROVIDE THAT NO PROPERTY ACQUIRED BY THE EXERCISE OF THE POWER OF EMINENT DOMAIN UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI SHALL, FOR A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS AFTER ITS ACQUISITION, BE TRANSFERRED OR ANY INTEREST THEREIN TRANSFERRED TO ANY PERSON, NONGOVERNMENTAL ENTITY, PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP, CORPORATION, OR OTHER BUSINESS ENTITY; TO PROVIDE CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES."
