AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 23-15-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT ELECTION OFFICIALS FROM SPENDING PRIVATE MONETARY DONATIONS FROM ANY SOURCE, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ON ANY COMMUNICATION TO POTENTIAL ELECTORS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The following shall be codified as Section 23-15-9, Mississippi Code of 1972:

     23-15-9.  The Secretary of State, State Board of Election Commissioners, registrar of voters, board of supervisors, governing authority of a municipality, county election commission, county election commissioners, and any other individual or entity charged with the conduct of elections in this state are prohibited, in the conduct of their official duties conducting an election, from spending private monetary donations from any source, directly or indirectly, on any communication to potential electors.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
