A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. LINDA GAVIN UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AND RECEIPT OF THE HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR HONOR.

     WHEREAS, after more than four decades of distinguished and meritorious service, Mrs. Linda Gavin has entered the prestigious and sacred institution of retirement, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional leadership and dedication to the families of Jones County, Mississippi, as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at South Central Regional Medical Center; and

     WHEREAS, a longtime community leader who, upon having relocated to Laurel, has dedicated her life and career in service to others, initially as a staff member of The Laurel Leader-Call, before joining South Central Regional Medical Center, Mrs. Gavin has consistently perpetuated and championed the role of a people's advocate; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Gavin's journey to Laurel and investiture as a bona fide Jones countian has proven to be an innocuous infusion of civic and humanitarian effort, the benefits of which every citizen of Jones County has reaped a bountiful harvest; and

     WHEREAS, in a judicious decision to pay forward opportunity to highlight the importance of selfless civic and social engagement with utmost professionalism and humility, Mrs. Gavin became a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Laurel and the first female member of the Laurel Rotary Club, an affiliation that would also allow her to shatter the glass ceiling of becoming the organization's first female president and endowment by Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her esteemed career and residency, Mrs. Gavin's natural affinity for promoting enhanced enrichment opportunities for youth, has garnered her great rapport among her professional and community peers, which has translated in her receipt of numerous accolades and recognitions, including:  Marketing Person of the Year by the Mississippi Hospital Association, Top 50 Businesswomen by the Mississippi Business Journal, Young Careerist of the Year by the Business and Professional Women of Laurel, Volunteer of the Year by EDA of Jones County, and Humanitarian of the Year by the Junior Auxiliary of Laurel; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Gavin has earned the admiration and respect of her colleagues and community members throughout Jones County for her commitment, tireless devotion to promoting youth opportunities, professionalism, and compassionate spirit and soul that continue to serve her beloved Laurel and Jones County communities; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay tribute to an outstanding public servant such as Mrs. Gavin, whose selfless service honors the spirit of hope and hospitality for Jones County and the State of Mississippi, which will be forever treasured in the many lives she touched:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Linda Gavin for her legacy of career excellence upon the occasion of her retirement as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at South Central Regional Medical Center, extend our best wishes to her and her family on this auspicious occasion, and convey our hopes for much success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Linda Gavin and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
