A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MIZE ATTENDANCE CENTER BULLDOGS VARSITY CHEER SQUAD AND COACH BROOKE KING FOR EARNING SECOND PLACE HONORS AT THE UNIVERSAL CHEERLEADERS ASSOCIATION'S NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING COMPETITION.

     WHEREAS, the Mize Attendance Center Bulldogs Varsity Cheer Squad's hard work and dedication over the past months has come to fruition as the squad performed exceptionally well, earning second place honors at Universal Cheerleaders Association's National High School Cheerleading Competition in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida, on February 11-12, 2022; and

     WHEREAS, the team competed at the UCA Regional Competition on December 5, 2021, at the Jackson Convention Center and received first place as well as a bid to Nationals in Orlando, Florida; and

     WHEREAS, Mize Cheerleaders, also the reigning Magnolia Regional Champions and Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A/2A State Champions, performed their routine three times, advancing through preliminaries to top 18 semi-finals, before taking the stage to compete against the final 10 teams; and

     WHEREAS, the cheerleaders competed against 34 teams from all over the nation in the Super Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day Division in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; and many of their competitors, including the previous and current national champions, are equivalent to the MHSAA Class 6A classification; and

     WHEREAS, the cheerleaders returned after their historic showing to be greeted by streets lined with fans, family and friends showing their support for their tremendous accomplishments; and

     WHEREAS, the key to the squad's victory was focused athletes and high standards for all of their skills, and the 2022 Mize Attendance Center National Championship Varsity Cheer roster is comprised of the following extraordinary student-athletes:  Amelia Evans, Emma Runnels, Lani Blair, Tymber Eubanks, Madison Craft, Lauren White, Trinity Amason, Grace Anglin, Delaney Smith, Niyah Turner, Annalyse Layton, Graci Sullivan, Caroline Ulmer, Emily Amason, Molly Keyes, Saylor Sullivan, Abby Swales, Adison King, Kierstin Street, Elizabeth Keith, Jena Lowery, Allisabeth Shutters, Bethany Amason, Olivia Evans; and alternates, Jewel Ainsworth (mascot) and Anna Lauren Johnston; and Head Coach Brooke King and Coach Johnny Taylor; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize this group of outstanding athletes who have brought honor to the Mize Attendance Center, the Town of Mize, and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Mize Attendance Center Bulldogs Varsity Cheer Squad and Head Coach Brooke King for earning second place honors at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Competition, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Brooke King, Mize Attendance Center Principal John King and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
