House Resolution 53

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE RAYMOND HIGH SCHOOL LADY RANGERS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 2020-2021 CLASS 4A TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Raymond High School Lady Rangers Track and Field Team sprinted their way towards victory on May 1, 2021, at the Mississippi High School Activities Association 2020-2021 Class 4A Track and Field State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, finishing with an impressive record, the Lady Rangers, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work, incentive to dominate and greatness for the game that ultimately set the team apart to collect the coveted track and field championship trophy; and

     WHEREAS, reigning supreme at the state championship meet and ultimately receiving the number one trophy, after finishing first out of a field of 31 competitors, marked a truly momentous occasion for the Lady Rangers, and the championship win was an unparalleled honor for the elite team, with each individual teammate making a substantial contribution during the season that led to the championship win; and

     WHEREAS, the team, who sprinted, dashed and jumped with nothing but heart and soul all season, is comprised of the following tremendously talented and distinguished student-athletes:  Kenyatta Allen, D'Asia Franklin, Chaydsia Horton, Jakia Joiner, Makinnah Jones, Madyson McGill, Erriona Miller, Alexus Odom, Destiny Paige, Leah Roberts, Julia Robinson, Autavia Sanford, Trinity Shelby, Derah Stanley, Leah Sutton, Aliyah Webb, Mekiya Wells, Ashley West and Maya Wilson; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Rangers were superbly coached and tremendously inspired by Head Coach Lee Richardson and Assistant Coaches Katrina Glass and Reginald Wilson, who have each broadened the team's knowledge of the sport and refined their skills in executing the perfect jump, sprint and dash during their tenure at Raymond High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the remarkable achievements of student-athletes, especially those such as the Raymond High School Lady Rangers Track and Field Team, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Raymond High School Lady Rangers Track and Field Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association 2020-2021 Class 4A Track and Field State Championship and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Lee Richardson and Principal Lorenzo Grimes on behalf of the Raymond High School Lady Rangers Track and Field Team, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
