A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST RANKIN HIGH SCHOOL LADY COUGARS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 6A GIRLS SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Lady Cougars Soccer Team capped off its remarkable season and reigned supreme to take home the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A Girls Soccer State Championship, the teams' third visit to the state championship in the past six seasons, with its first title being in 2017, and second place finish in 2018; and

     WHEREAS, this year, the Lady Cougars finished their outstanding season with a final record of 22-1-2, and recorded 15 shutouts in their twenty-five game season, giving up only an average of .5 goals per game, and they were equally balanced in the attack, averaging 3.5 goals per game; and

     WHEREAS, outstandingly, the Lady Cougars will graduate four seniors, all of whom have signed to play at the next level with two playing Division I, and although there were several standout individual performances over the course of the season, the championship win was a culmination of hard work and team effort, with every player knowing their role and executing it perfectly; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars roster consists of the following exceptional student-athletes:  Katie Sasser, Emerson Bryant, Aly Vancor, Mallory Tapper, KK Morris, Cameron Sistrunk, Anna Ashley, Ashlyn Dodd, TG Sims, Emily Dixon, Jayden Newman, Karson Harper, Myla Thortis, Lily Lyle, Kate Gray Nesbit, Sidney Clare Sing, Emery Norsworthy, Emily Welch, Abbi Hornke, Kaylee Roth, Chloe Horton, Parker Morris, Allie Sifford, Anna Claire Sherman, Ava Rogers, Zoey Brown, Madeleine Martinez, Katie Hennington, Sarah Kate Foreman, Crissi Tenner, Kalyn Oubre, Rylee Shaw, Amiya Barnes, Grace Harmon, Emma Alexander, Kinsey Horton, Isabel Smith, Kaylee Ott, Delilah Roberts and Carson Webb; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Carli Little, Assistant Coaches Daylin Britt and Kelly McGinnis, athletic trainer, Darell Bradley, and managers, Mary Michael Barnes, Hadley Lindsey and Reagan Ferguson, who have broadened the teams' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi's student-athletes, especially those such as the Lady Cougars, whose excellence on and off the field brings honor to Northwest Rankin High School, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Rankin High School Lady Cougars Soccer Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A Girls Soccer State Championship, and extend best wishes to the members of the team for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Northwest Rankin High School Lady Cougars Soccer Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
