AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO OMAR TRAVIS OF
HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE
LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely
restored to Omar Travis of Hinds County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as
an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of burglary residential
in Hinds County, Mississippi, on March 6, 1991, for which he was sentenced to
serve five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
He was released on parole on September 12, 1992. He was sentenced on February
2, 2009, for burglary out-of-state to serve four (4) years, nine (9) months, and
two (2) days of probation. He was also sentenced on March 14, 2016, in Rankin County
for the crime of receiving stolen property to serve a term of ten (10) years in
the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
He was released on parole on
February 14, 2018. He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and
was discharged on February 1, 2021. The Legislature is informed that he has
since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and
lawful manner.
SECTION 2. This act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
