AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY TO ESTABLISH A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE PURPOSE OF IDENTIFYING AND MAKING CHANGES TO ENERGY SYSTEMS THAT LEAD TO IMPROVED EFFICIENCIES AND COST SAVINGS; TO AUTHORIZE THE UNIVERSITY'S COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH ENTERGY MISSISSIPPI, LLC, FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  There is established at Jackson State University, acting under the authority of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, the Jackson State University Sustainable Energy Partnership Program.  The purpose of the program is to identify and implement necessary changes relating to the maintenance and sustainability of energy systems which lead to improved efficiencies and cost savings to the state.  The Jackson State University College of Science, Engineering and Technology may enter into an agreement with Entergy Mississippi, LLC, to effectuate the intent of this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
