A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING ALAN SUDDUTH, MANAGER OF MISSISSIPPI POLICIES AND GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS FOR CHEVRON PRODUCTS COMPANY IN PASCAGOULA, MISSISSIPPI, UPON HIS SELECTION AS 2020-2021 CHAIRMAN OF THE MISSISSIPPI MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION (MMA) BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

     WHEREAS, we join the business and civic community in Mississippi in recognizing Alan Sudduth, Manager of Mississippi Policies and Government Affairs for Chevron Products Company in Pascagoula, Mississippi, who has been named the 2020-2021 Chairman of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) Board of Directors; and

     WHEREAS, longtime Jackson County resident Alan Sudduth joined Chevron in March 2011 as Public and Government Affairs Manager for Mississippi.  He manages a full range of public and government affairs activities, including media relations, community engagement, political advocacy, crisis communication, external and internal communications, and business development; and

     WHEREAS, previously County Administrator for the Jackson County Board of Supervisors, Alan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi, and a Masters of Business Administration from William Carey University; and

     WHEREAS, Alan formerly served as Special Counsel to the Jackson County Board Attorney and practiced law with Brown, Watt & Buchanan in Pascagoula.  He also served as a Sergeant with the Mississippi Army National Guard, 134th Engineering Company, and was activated during Desert Storm/Shield before qualifying for veteran status and receiving an honorable discharge.  Past President of the Pascagoula Rotary Club, Alan is a member of The Nature Conservancy of Mississippi Board of Trustees, the Merchants and Marine Bank Board of Directors, the William Carey University Board of Trustees, the United Way for Jackson and George Counties Board of Directors, and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's Title V Air Advisory Council.  He was inducted into the William Carey University Alumni Hall of Fame in 2016 and was selected for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce's "One Coast Community Leader" Class of 2015; and

     WHEREAS, we pay tribute to the enormous civic and business energy of a most public-spirited citizen of the Mississippi Gulf Coast who brings honor to his business, his community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Alan Sudduth, Manager of Mississippi Policies and Government Affairs for Chevron Products in Pascagoula, Mississippi, upon his selection as the 2020-2021 Chairman of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) Board of Directors, and extend to Alan and his family our best wishes for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Alan Sudduth and his family, forwarded to the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
