A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JOHN MILLER FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Mr. Miller, a resident of Lucedale, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Miller, a Mathematics Instructor and Honors Director, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 13 years; and

     WHEREAS, prior to his career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Mr. Miller worked as a Mathematics Teacher at George County High School and Moss Point High School; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Miller received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University and his Master of Education degree from The University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher as Mr. Miller, who has dedicated his career to teaching the young people of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate John Miller for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to John Miller, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
