Senate Resolution 7

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE RESURRECTION CATHOLIC SCHOOL ANNUAL CARNIVAL BALL IN PASCAGOULA, MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, one of the biggest events and oldest traditions of the year on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is the Resurrection Catholic School Annual Carnival Ball; and

     WHEREAS, The Resurrection Catholic School Carnival Ball in Pascagoula, Mississippi, began when the school was still named Our Lady of Victories Catholic School; and

     WHEREAS, the Ball is celebrating a major milestone this year, the 75th Anniversary of the Ball.  The Ball is the school's largest fundraiser and requires participation by administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students and alumni of all ages in order to be successful.  It includes participation by three different generations of families; and

     WHEREAS, it is the oldest carnival ball for children on the Gulf Coast; and

     WHEREAS, in 2020, the Ball is expecting a number of past royalty to be in attendance, including the King from 1948.  This event is steeped in tradition and is a source of great pride for Resurrection families; and

     WHEREAS, we join Bishop Louis Kihneman, III, Dr. Rhonda Clark, the faculty, students, parents and sponsors of the Resurrection Catholic School Annual Ball in celebrating this Gulf Coast tradition:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Resurrection Catholic School Annual Carnival Ball in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and extend our best wishes on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Bishop Kihneman and the faculty and alumni of Resurrection Catholic School and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
