House Resolution 102

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING COACH TIFFANY MURRAY FOR ESTABLISHING THE LION'S DEN CLOTHES CLOSET FOR STUDENTS AT LYMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

WHEREAS, Coach Tiffany Murray, a phenomenal physical education coach at Lyman Elementary School in Gulfport, Mississippi, created the Lion's Den, a clothes closet designed for students in need; and

WHEREAS, since joining Lyman Elementary as a coach over a year ago, Coach Murray noticed that some of her students were in need of clean clothing that fit properly and that did not have holes or rips, and allowed that observation to drive her decision to establish the Lion's Den clothes closet for students to access when necessary; and

WHEREAS, throughout the month of November 2019, Coach Murray asked for donations via Facebook and was overwhelmed with an amazing response, and during Christmas break, she along with her friends took an old storage closet and created a clothing store for the students that also features a changing room and section for teachers; and

WHEREAS, changing students' lives one jacket or pair of shoes at a time, Coach Murray, an extraordinary lady who embodies what it means to be a superb educator, is a true shining light for students in need and has selflessly donated her time and efforts in supporting her students, and through her positive impact, devotion and commitment, she continues to wholeheartedly contribute to her students' future educational success; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the spectacular service of exceptional educators, especially those such as Coach Murray, who has tirelessly and selflessly devoted her time and efforts to imparting inspiration and light into the bright students of the Magnolia State:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Coach Tiffany Murray of Lyman Elementary School in Gulfport, Mississippi, for establishing the Lion's Den clothes closet, and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Tiffany Murray and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
