House Resolution 71

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE SPIRITUAL EXCELLENCE OF TURNAGE CHAPEL CONGREGATIONAL METHODIST CHURCH UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS 114TH ANNIVERSARY.

WHEREAS, Turnage Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, a historic religious institution established in 1906, in Foxworth, Mississippi, is celebrating the splendid occasion of its 114th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Turnage Chapel has grown tremendously throughout the decades, and throughout the church's history, its members have served the Lord under the illustrious guidance of numerous devout pastors, and while the community, the congregation and even the landscape have transformed in the past 114 years, the message of love and mercy taught from the Good Book has remained the same; and

WHEREAS, as a vital part of the Foxworth community, Turnage Chapel has remained a valued and trusted institution since its inception, withstanding the ever-changing dynamics surrounding it by being firmly rooted and grounded in its biblical principles, and it has continued in its longstanding tradition of empowering countless families and others through the teachings of the gospel; and

WHEREAS, Turnage Chapel, which has stood the test of time since its founding in 1906, has continued to pursue spiritual excellence with an indomitable spirit, which has allowed the congregation to stand firm under the pastoral guidance of the many visionary ministers of the Ecclesiastical order who have been divinely assigned to nurture its flock, and continues to build upon the threefold ministry under the intrepidly devout leadership of Dr. Ronnie Morgan; and

WHEREAS, as a spiritual beacon to its current members and its community, Turnage Chapel, like a city that sits upon a hill and cannot be hidden, has truly been founded on faith, hope and love, and it thrives as a source of spiritual empowerment for its members; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding historic religious institutions, especially those such as Turnage Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, which strives continuously to promote the spread and growth of the Christian faith by making a positive impact throughout the Foxworth community and the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Turnage Chapel Congregational Methodist Church on the occasion of its 114th anniversary and wish the church continued growth and prosperity for many years to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Ronnie Morgan, members of Turnage Chapel Congregational Methodist Church and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
