A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION URGING THE EFFORT OF LEGISLATIVE AND POLITICAL BIPARTISANSHIP IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI TO REESTABLISH POLITICAL COOPERATION ACROSS PARTIES, AND ENCOURAGING THE OBSERVANCE OF "SERVE TOGETHER: NATIONAL WEEK OF POST-PARTISAN ACTION" DURING THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 17-21, 2020.

     WHEREAS, during the week of February 17-21, 2020, the Millennial Action Project (MAP) and the various state Future Caucuses will observe the first "Serve Together: National Week of Post-Partisan Action," to encourage the reestablishment of political cooperation across parties by moving beyond conventional party divides and inviting all opinions to the conversation, while also highlighting the post-partisan leadership of affiliate Future Caucuses and young legislators across the country; and

     WHEREAS, the Millennial Action Project is the largest, national nonpartisan organization activating young leaders in Congress, and state legislatures across the country, to transcend political polarization and develop new and innovative policy approaches and solutions together; and

     WHEREAS, the State Future Caucus Network (SFCN) fosters bipartisan dialogue and expertise exploration among state legislators dedicated to advancing future-oriented solutions to the issues facing the Millennial and future generations; and

     WHEREAS, working directly with our nation's leading young policymakers on both a national and state level to spur bipartisan legislation and innovative policy solutions, MAP gives the nation's young leaders the resources and support to create, introduce, and pass legislation and forge productive partnerships on the issues affecting the youngest generation of Americans, which has experienced the advancement of legislation on issues including entrepreneurship, technology, 21st century skills training, veterans' employment, immigration, volunteerism and more; and

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi Future Caucus led by Representative Jeramey Anderson and Representative Shane Barnett, is a group of young legislators committed to working towards a culture of political cooperation in the great State of Mississippi, and consists of the following intrepid Legislators:  Representatives Otis Anthony, Joel Bomgar, Clay Deweese, Jarvis Dortch, Lataisha Jackson, John Thomas "Trey" Lamar III, Kent McCarty, Jansen Owen, Orlando Paden,  Darryl Porter, Noah Sanford, Zakiya Summers and Shanda Yates; and Senators Jennifer Branning, Joel Cart, Jr., Jeremy England, Tyler McCaughn, Benjamin Suber, Jeff Tate and Neil S. Whaley; and

     WHEREAS, during the week of February 17-21, 2020, the Mississippi Future Caucus is participating in the Millennial Action Project's first ever "Serve Together: National Week of Post-Partisan Action," marked by young leaders moving beyond partisan divides to usher in a new era of collaboration and innovative approaches to policy:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby recognize the Millennial Action Project and the Mississippi Future Caucus of the Future Caucus Network, for their individual and collaborative efforts to lead on issues critical to the future of our state.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the citizens of the State of Mississippi as well as all elected political officials and activist are encouraged to observe the week of February 17-21, 2020 as "Serve Together:  National Week of Post-Partisan Action" in the state.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the officers of the Mississippi Future Caucus, to the President of the Millennial Action Project, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
